We are built around a protected bamboo forest. That shapes everything else.
Nature
The property is built around a protected bamboo forest, not on top of it. Two kilometres of trail cross it without disturbing it, and the rest areas, hammocks, and work spaces were built inside the structure that was already there.
Conservation
The bamboo forest and the property's bodies of water are maintained as a conservation area. Guadua bamboo is a key species for soil and water retention in Quindío, and conserving it is part of the reason this place works the way it does.
Social impact
Cannatel is a small hotel with a team that knows one another. Social impact starts there: stable employment in the local area, and conditions that let people stay.
Local community
We are in the El Caimo district, between Armenia and La Tebaida. The experiences we offer — from tejo to tours across Quindío — lean on operators and hosts from the region.
Local suppliers
The kitchen works with produce from the coffee region, and the house's commercial partnerships — from the spa to transport — are built with local suppliers before chains.
SDGs
How we relate to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals
The UN’s 17 SDGs are the global framework for sustainable development towards 2030. These cards show, goal by goal, how Cannatel’s actions and philosophy relate to each one — and are honest about the difference between what we already do and the areas that are, for now, alignment or opportunity.
Hover or tap each card to see how Cannatel relates to that goal.
